Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The topics are scheduled in advance which you can check out here.
Today’s topic is: Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump
- Uprooted by Naomi Novik
- Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
- Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh (review coming soon)
- Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
- The Deal by Elle Kennedy
- Corrupt by Penelope Douglas (review here)
- RoomHate by Penelope Ward
- Egomaniac by Vi Keeland
- Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen (review here)
- Fake Fiancée by Ilsa Madden-Mills
***Honorable Mention: ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas – only because it might actually put you into a slump for never wanting to read anything but Rhysand ❤ (review here)
When I’m in a reading slump usually a stand-alone contemporary romance is good fix for me or a nice stand-alone fantasy (Uprooted). Or some delicious paranormal romance that either makes you want to binge read the series (Halfway to the Grave) or take your time with the series (Slave to Sensation). Also rereading favorites helps with slumps too!
Have you guys read any of these books? Do you agree or disagree with my choices? What do you read to get you out of a slump?
Oh my gosh YES to The Deal! That is like my go-to reread! I’m a big fan of the whole Off Campus series, but The Deal will forever be my favorite!! Also I read Corrupt earlier this year and was blown away by it. I’ve never read anything quite like that spa scene…you know the one 😉 I tried to read Hideaway, which I see you’re reading now, and it didn’t work for me, but I can’t wait to see what you think!
I didn’t do this topic this week but instead did an update on my past season TBRs. Feel free to check it out here: http://bit.ly/2w1tSD0

omg I’ve been hankering a reread of the Off-Campus series recently!! definitely one of my favorites but I’m starting the Briar U series, The Chase instead. Oh.My.God wasn’t Corrupt I N S A N E!?!? I loved it but holy molyyyyyy and yes that spa scene, I’ve reread that more than once I’ll tell you. I’ve started Hideaway but wasn’t in the mood so I’m waiting to get back into it but I thought leaving it as my currently reading would help encourage me to keep going, I’ll definitely have a review up when I finish it.

Yeah, I’m considering squeezing an Off Campus reread in to prep for Briar U, but who knows what will happen. And yes, Corrupt was quite the wild ride. I definitely was not prepared for that going in, but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t reread that cover-to-cover lol. I’ll look forward to your review and hope you like it more than I did! Happy reading!

I agree about Contemporaries being a great book to pull you out of a slump! I have gone to them a lot this year.

somehow a little dose of fake reality helps you get back into the swing of reading!

I have only read Slave to Sensation and it was good but not good enough to continue the series. I have read the third book of Brooklyn Bruisers series. Don’t ask me why I haven’t read the first book of the series since I have no idea. Unfortunately I only thought it was OK.

Romances always work for me, because when I am slumping, I want something on the lighter side with an HEA.
