Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The topics are scheduled in advance which you can check out here.
Today’s topic is: Upcoming Releases I’m on the Fence About
But since I missed a few TTT from last month I’m going to do 1/7/19’s topic instead,
which was: Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2019
and instead just cover ALL the ones I know about so far for the whole year
January
1/29 – Moonlight Scandals (de Vincent #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I read the first two books from this romantic gothic suspense series and you can read my reviews for them here and here. Each book features a different brother who are born to wealth and live in this giant fancy haunted Louisiana mansion. The third brother has been the hardest to like so I’m excited to see how Armentrout gets us on his side in this third book as well as see what kind of suspenseful insanity she has up her sleeve for this story.

2/11 – Kill Switch (Devil’s Night #3) by Penelope Douglas
Oh man. This series is in a league of it’s own for me. I was completely blown away by the first book, Corrupt, in a way that I was like what the fuck did I just read and why did I love it so much? This is a romantic suspense series with so much out of control insane triggering things but like, in a really good way. It’s best if you check out my reviews (here and here) cause they’re the only place I could string the right words together to make sense of them, but also going in blind is kind of exhilarating too. Each book features a different male MC from a group of friends and this book’s character is easily the most twisted and hated so I’m kind of dying to see HOW or even if Douglas will write him in a way to redeem himself. Also excited for more head spinning what-the-fuck-ery.
2/18 – The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy
Ah, there is just something so satisfying about Elle Kennedy’s new adult contemporary hockey romances. The Off-Campus series is one of my favorite ever and this series has us back in the world with cameos from this series and a focus on new roommates and teammates finding angsty steamy love. While I didn’t love the first one in this series (review here) as much as I did the books from Off-Campus it was still a really fun read and I’m ready to dive into the rest of the characters’ stories.
March
3/5 – Shadow Me (Shatter Me #4.5) by Tahereh Mafi
I’m less excited about this novella than I am the next actual book in the series but I love this series so much and I’ve learned how easily one novella can shape what you think and feel towards a character and the main story within this series (I’m looking at you Warner novella!) so I definitely won’t be missing out on this one.
April
4/2 – Defy Me (Shatter Me #5) by Tahereh Mafi
I think anxious might actually be a better word than excited for this book. After the last book’s insane reveals and cliffhanger and bullshit angsty romance issues, I’m worried about what this book is going to do to my nerves! But I don’t want to complain because honestly I’m still just so happy Mafi decided to continue writing this series after the initial end. I didn’t review the books in the first half of the series but you can check out my review for book 4 here and I give a bit of a review of the series as a whole in it.
July
7/30 – Wicked Bite (Night Rebel #2) by Jeaniene Frost
I NEED THIS. I literally STILL get chills when I think of Ian’s last words in the last book, like yassssss. I never want to not be in this universe. One fun fact about me is that I’m obsessed with Frost’s Night Huntress series and ALL of the spin-off books and series; they are seriously vampire paranormal urban fantasy romance perfection. The first book in this spin-off series held it’s ground amongst the others and I loved it and I want more and I don’t want to wait and likely that’s all my review for the first book says but if you want to read it to see if there are any other coherent thoughts go for it. But if you haven’t read any books of hers or any in this world, definitely start with the Night Huntress series, book one is called Halfway to the Grave.
October
10/8 – The Burning Shadow (Origin #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This is another book universe I love. This is a spin-off series from Armentrout’s Lux series, that I highly recommend and you can read my series review for here. The first book of this spin-off series was so fun and exciting and I just know the action and romance are going to increase in this next book. I hate that I have to wait so long for this book but I’m sure it’s going to be so worth it. No cover reveal for this one yet.
Unknown 2019 Release
? – Crescent City (#1) by Sarah J. Maas
While there is basically no information available bout this book other than a quick summary blurb, do you really think I’m not going to read this? It’s an adult fantasy series with “Maas’ signature heart-pounding romance” and that’s basically all I need to know to elicit all the gimmegimmegimme feels.
? – Untitled (The Iron Covenant #2) by Ilona Andrews
Another where we know basically nothing about it, other than it’s a sequel in this series set in the Kate Daniel’s urban fantasy universe. You can read my review to book 1 here. I love the couple in this series and I can’t wait to see more development from them and I’m happy to have more to read in this universe now that the Kate Daniel’s series is complete.
Are you anticipating any of these same books? Am I missing any notable 2019 releases that you think I should be anticipating?
Reblogged this on LIVING THE DREAM.
