TBR FAIL

So.. although I’ve surpassed my Goodreads challenge for the year 52/50 book read, there are SO many more books I’ve had on my monthly and yearly TBR that I really thought I would have gotten to by now. I’ve been in somewhat of a reading slump since the end of summer and I’ve only read 5 books since the beginning of September.  Here’s all the books I’d hoped to have finished by the end of 2018:

  1. Red Queen (#1) by Victoria Aveyard
  2. Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard
  3. King’s Cage (Red Queen #3) by Victoria Aveyard
  4. War Storm (Red Queen #4) by Victoria Aveyard
  5. Night Fall by Isaac Asimov
  6. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
  7. The Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess
  8. The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer
  9. Slaughterhouse-five by Kurt Vonnegut
  10. Red Rising (#1) by Pierce Brown
  11. The Three Body Problem (Remembrance of Earth’s Past #1) by Cixin Liu
  12. Off to Be the Wizard (Magic 2.0 #1) by Scott Meyer
  13. Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
  14. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik*
  15. The Chase (Briar U #1) by Elle Kennedy
  16. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (#1) by Jenny Han
  17. The Darkest Star (Origin #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout*
  18. Shades of Wicked (Night Rebel #1) by Jeaniene Frost*
  19. Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare*
  20. Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas

If you’ve been paying attention to my blog you might have realized that #1-13 are all books from my Physical TBR Challenge meaning I’ve basically fffffailed to read the books I already own for another year in a row haha. Also the four starred books are ones from my Most Anticipated Releases of 2018 so that’s like a double fail because I have waiting so long for these books and then apparently I’ve decided to torture myself more by putting them off?? What is my deal??? I still have about 24 days left in the year…it would take a miracle to finish all 20 of these in that time haha but we’ll see what I’m able to do!

WHAT IS MY DEAL???

So I’ve been doing that accidental hiatus from blogging (& twitter) thing again that I tried to make up for at the end of November. And the book slump has been real.

But I have an explanation!! And if you follow me on twitter you likely already know but, about a week after I was super sick with strep throat back in September I found out….

I’M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!

I’m finally in the second trimester, feeling better, and able to shout about it!! It’s all so exciting and surreal, especially as this will be our first baby and it’s been really hard for me to focus on anything else the last few months. But I’m hoping now that the cat is out of the bag and we’re in the safe(r) zone with the pregnancy, I can relax and read and blog like normal. Thank you to everyone who reached out on twitter after I announced, it’s so fun to be able to spread happy news around to balance out the unhappy news we’re bombarded with every day.

Looking forward to hopping around the blogosphere and seeing what everyone is up to during blogmas! ❤

  1. Congratulations! Also, this is a really interesting TBR list 🙂 I tried reading KIng’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard but I didn’t really get into it.

  4. Congratulations! I wish you all the best. And please, don’t worry over the books you haven’t read. Just one at a time if it really isn’t picking up try another. You’ll get there! Happy Month of December ❤
